Orpingtons are heavy dual purpose calm docile cold-hardy birds originally developed in the UK. The Buff Orpington is the most common and the other colors, especially the black and blue, are considered rare. They are considered to be good layers of light brown eggs with most hens laying about every other day. They are broody and are good sitters and brooders.

We do not currently breed any Orpington chickens ourselves, we are currently sold out of Orpington Chicks. We have more Buff chicks on order with our supplier but are not sure if we will get them this year. If we can get them we plan to keep some to breed for 2009.
