At Porterfield Exotics we have been breeding Boxers and Boxer
Hybrids since 1996. We have selected our breeders based on a
balance of their appearance, temperament and health. We shy
away from adding any Boxers to our program that show any negative
traits such as aggressiveness, excessive shyness, known health
issues or predominant white genetics which often carry with them
deafness, blindness, cancer and heart disease. Our Boxers
have a slight under bite giving them that pushed in muzzle
characteristic of the Boxer breed that we all know and love.
However, we are careful to choose our breeders with a balance of
muzzle appearance and ability to be relatively free breathing.
Yes, most of our Boxers do snore when they sleep and may even
snort a little when they get excited. They do not sound like
little hogs when they are going about their normal routine and
simply breathing as some of the snub nosed breeds do. We are
not about breeding show champions and we choose not to participate
in the politics of dog shows and competitions. Not that we
have anything against those that do but we breed our dogs the old
fashion way. We keep, obtain and breed our dogs to what we
and our customers desire from our dogs. Breed standards and
pedigrees are good but we also believe there are more important
things when breeding dogs than winning titles and arguing about
petty issues such as whether a Boxer is still a Boxer if it is an
inch taller than someone's breed standard calls for. We
breed for loyal healthy companion dogs with the appearance and
personality that we and our customers desire.
